English cemetery and an interview with a foreigner activities

Last Friday, 9th of November, 71 students from the 1st year of ESO and 4 teachers, together with Rashida Allen, our language assistant, went to visit the English cemetery in Málaga by bus and they took part in a  gymkhana organised by the staff there. A group of girls achieved four out of the six proposed challenges and then we headed towards the gardens next to the town hall to carry out an activity consisting in taking pictures of some twenty vocabulary words and interviewing a foreigner with questions they took from a questionnaire and some more created by themselves. We all had fun and enjoyed our day out a lot!

El pasado 9 de noviembre, 71 alumnos/as de nuestro IES de los cuatro grupos de primero junto con cuatro profesores y la auxiliar de conversación Rashida Allen nos dirigimos al cementerio inglés de Málaga con el fin de participar en una gymkhana cultural sobre la historia del lugar. Con motivo de esta actividad complementaria a la unidad bilingüe de primero, también visitamos el parque de Málaga para tomar una fotos de un vocabulario que se le dio al alumnado previamente y además debía entrevistar a un extranjero/a que pasara por allí con una serie de preguntas sugeridas y otras de creación propia. Todos disfrutamos muchísimo de la actividad que esperamos que se repita con la misma satisfacción.

Halloween Celebration and Jack'o'Lanterns Contest

We celebrated Halloween on 31st of October. We gathered in the library to read the horror stories written by the students in the four groups of the 1st year of ESO. Apart from that, this year, we also enjoyed the spooky dances prepared by P.E students. As we all know, this subject is brand new in our bilingual studies curriculum instead of Music.
Both the students from the first year of ESO and the ones from the second year took part in the contest and we have three winners who got some treats and presents. Thanks to all the contestants and we hope you bring many more pumpkins next year!

Celebramos nuestra fiesta de Halloween el 31 de octubre en la biblioteca con el certamen de historias de terror creadas por los grupos de 1º y con el concurso de calabazas para 1º y 2º. Este año nuestros alumnos/as, nos han deleitado con sus bailes de EF, que como sabemos se incorpora como nueva materia bilingüe para sustituir a música. Tuvimos tres ganadores que se llevaron de premio algunas chuches, maquillaje y una calabaza. Gracias y esperamos que el año que viene haya muchos más participantes.

European Day of Languages Year 2018-19

We worked on this celebration on 26th September with the four groups of ESO at the school. And in the first year we worked on the Indoeuropean Languages  on trees that the students created in groups. In the second year of ESO, we worked with puns, riddles or tongue-twisters in Spanish. in the third year of ESO we made posters on Why Languages Matter, debating on it and watching videos on the topic and in the 4th year of ESO we read texts on the Importance of English as a Lingua Franca and in all the world in general to find a better job, open your mind and know a different culture.

Trabajamos la celebración del Día Europeo de las Lenguas en los cuatro niveles en el instituto con los árboles de las lenguas indoeuropeas en primero de ESO, creadas por los propios alumnos/as. En segundo se trabajaron trabalenguas, palíndromos y la palabra más larga con actividades en Lengua española, en tercero se crearon pósters con la temática de por qué importan tanto las lenguas y en cuarto se hizo ver al alumnado la importancia del inglés como lengua franca y como una puerta que nos abre un futuro con un mejor trabajo, una mente más abierta y el conocimiento de una cultura diferente.

4th year of ESO. 3rd Term. Jarifa Newspaper

In the fourth year of ESO we dealt with a new topic this academic course related to the press and how to create different pieces of news, opinion articles or Art reviews on a digital format. The students worked really well creating their Jarifa newspaper online adding wonderful pictures and this year, they will have to face new challenging too. En cuarto de ESO trabajamos un nuevo tema este curso relacionado con la prensa y cómo crear distintos tipos de noticias, artículos de opinión o críticas de arte en formato digital. El alumnado trabajó muy bien creando su periódico online añadiendo maravillosas fotos y este año tendrán que enfrentarse a nuevos e increíbles retos también. 3rd year of ESO- Second Term Integrated Unit

This term we have worked on the topic Living Together and Relationships. Our students recorded a video with Spanish, English, French, Maths, Citizenship and P.E material all reflected in the same final project. They dealt with dialogues, monologues, house chores, graphics and functions, the role of women in the world and team sports and how to help our peers in a difficult situation when competing, instead of winning.

Este trimestre hemos trabajado en el tema La Convivencia y las Relaciones Personales. Nuestros estudiantes grabaron un video en todas las materias reflejado en este producto final. Trabajamos con diálogos, monólogos, las tareas domésticas, gráficos y funciones, el papel de las mujeres en el mundo y los deportes de equipo y cómo sustituir a nuestros compañeros en situaciones difíciles cuando competimos, aunque sea a pesar de sacrificar nuestra victoria.

SECOND TERM INTEGRATED UNIT 4TH YEAR OF ESO

In this second term, we have worked on 1898 topic in the fourth year of ESO. The final project was a gymkhana that the students carried out at the school gym with the supervision of the P.E teacher, Gracia. The students went through different stations divided by the subjects that take part in the programme, answering the questions and doing some physical exercises that the teacher suggested. Thanks to all!

En este segundo trimestre, hemos trabajado el tema de 1898 en cuarto de la ESO. El proyecto final fue una gymkhana que el alumnado llevó a cabo en el gimnasio con la supervisión de la profesora de EF, Gracia. El alumnado fue pasando por las distintas estaciones que representaban las distintas materias bilingües que forman parte del programa, contestando las preguntas y haciendo algunos ejercicios físicos que la profesora sugirió que montaran. ¡Muchas gracias por la participación!

VISIT TO GIBRALFARO AND ALCAZABA

Our yearly visit to Gibralfaro and Alcazaba has become a tradition. As usual, we have been working about castles in the second course of ESO and finally, we finished the project visiting the two monuments. We also had time to go to Burger King or to go to the street market placed in the park of Malaga.

ROMANTICISM: THE FOURTH COURSE PROJECT
